No Rain
Two presentations from Wednesday's Voice of Gaming live event (Voice Arcade + Amazon Alexa's Starfinder)
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
I like watching the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two
And speak my point of view
But it's not sane
The Voice of Gaming, a live event which took place virtually on Wednesday as part of The Project Voice Series, dove in on how voice tech and conversational AI is being used across video games, board games, and more.
Two presentations began the day:
Tom Hewitson (Founder of Labworks.io and creator of the Voice Arcade) spoke, in a fireside chat, about the Voice Arcade and what’s been learned so far from applying a subscription model to voice gaming
Chris Morrow (along with Ezra Kim and Jonathan Miller), who created Starfinder on behalf of Amazon and Amazon Alexa, spoke about the process of creating the biggest voice game ever made - Starfinder’s seven episodes comprise 8-10 hours of gameplay
Both of these sessions are publicly available here and are well worth the hour investment to watch.
After sitting through these presentations myself, I would venture to say anyone, doing anything, involving voice or AI would benefit greatly from knowing more about Voice Arcade as well as Starfinder.
These are seminal accomplishments in a young area of voice technology - case studies that will be discussed for a long time to come.
