Highly-anticipated Voice Tech Innovation Week lineup announced; checking in on the Open Voice Network in Portland
Not one, but now two voice/AI businesses (one with a multimodal technology and another with a strong clientele in the finance/banking space) are available for sale. See footer for information and reach out if interested to learn more.
One thing I can tell you is you’ve got to be free.
Project Voice: Coast to Coast rolled in to Portland today, where among my meetings was a stop at Jon Stine’s house - longtime Intel veteran and currently the executive director of the Open Voice Network.
The work Jon and team are doing is profound and necessary. The need for having standards, ethics, and accepted best practices across voice experiences and conversational AI is important if we want this space to grow to its potential.
Glad to snap a picture from his house in Portland before we took a walk around the neighborhood and getting caught up.
I’m grateful to him for his hospitality.
Tomorrow I’ll be in Seattle - would love to see you there.
Numerous participating companies have been announced as part of the Voice Tech Innovation Week program, and registrations have been strong.
Of particular note: Voicebot’s Bret Kinsella and legendary technologist Brian Roemmele will join me for a closing roundtable discussion on Friday, February 5.
I can promise you won’t want to miss this.
The week itself has shaped up to be an essential walk through the current lay of the land in voice tech and conversational AI.
Nobody’s jumping up and down begging for more virtual events right now. We all know the bar is now extremely high to merit attending one. This meets that threshold.
Registration is free and available here.
JANUARY 28: Fireside Chat with DefinedCrowd’s CEO Daniela Braga on the role of AI datasets
Great opportunity to meet with a true original in the voice/AI space and one of the more exciting leaders, covering a topic at the intersection of data science and conversational AI. I’ll moderate the discussion.
TWO VOICE/AI BUSINESSES FOR SALE
MULTIMODAL VOICE/AI TECHNOLOGY: The original inventor of visual IVRs has created a technology which enhances an ordinary call by joining a data session to it, positioning the experience between a standard phone call and a videoconference.
This approach allows interoperability with phones worldwide and turns an ordinary phone call into a smart home speaker with visuals. Any company wanting to expand into multimodal IVRs, phonebots, contact centers and other types of enhanced business calls would find this company of interest, regardless of vertical.
VOICE BANKING SYSTEM WITH 40 CLIENTS: This is a voice banking financial technology company with a primary audience of credit unions and community banks. Founded in 2014 by four experienced financial services executives, the company now has 40 credit unions among its signed clients. The sale of this wholly owned division includes technology, intellectual property, staff resources and a thriving client base.
Owner wishes to concentrate on consulting division and will advise as requested.
For information on either or both of these companies, respond to this email and happy to connect you.
The Voice of Mobile Apps: virtual event examining best practices involving integrating conversational AI into existing mobile applications.
Project Voice 2021 marks the return of the in-person conference. The execution will look much different than before. But will be a landmark event. Registration is here.
