Google's Task Mate shocks the system; in-person event next week in Manhattan
One of the signature songs about New York City was written by two songwriters who, while abroad, got homesick for their beloved NYC and couldn’t wait to return.
There’s a pandemic metaphor in there somewhere.
We’ll roll into New York City next week for The Voice of Money, an in-person event in Manhattan that’s much more social gathering than conference.
Sure, there will be key updates from rising stars Pindrop, Deepgram, Helios, and others, but the main point is to gather together, grab a drink, and connect.
Any subscriber of This Week In Voice VIP that is in the area, and can’t pay $49 to attend the half-day event, email me and I’ll happily waive the fee with absolutely zero questions asked.
I and my team would love to meet you, on the afternoon of Wednesday November 10, down at Clinton Hall FiDi, just outside of Wall Street, and buy you a drink, and learn more about what you’re doing and thinking about with voice/AI, if you can join us.
At last week’s Project Voice X Worldwide virtual event, we heard from Google with a significant new entrant into the voice/AI playing field: a new app called Task Mate.
Part of Google’s next billion users program, Task Mate enables users - in this case, companies working with any type of audio, voice technology, or conversational AI - to hire people in developing countries around the world to complete simple speech tasks, using the app, and get paid for their audio.
Companies needing speech data, in various languages or meeting any number of other conditions, can now get it much easier than before, using this Google micro-tasking platform.
The entire evolution of voice technology and conversational AI has been shaped by the availability (or lack thereof) of quality speech data. Google’s Task Mate app, with its impressive simplicity and global reach, immediately enables more young voice/AI companies to compete more effectively and build better companies in the space.
If you missed the presentation, it’s now available here on YouTube (go to 3 hr 35 min, where the Google / Task Mate presentation begins) to learn more, or you can email the Google team behind the product to request beta access at taskmate-support@google.com.
